Fees
$300 initial assessment · $200 ongoing sessions
The initial assessment is 90 minutes and $300. Ongoing sessions are 60 minutes and $200.
The initial assessment gives us additional time to understand what brings you to therapy, your history, what you would like to change, and what may be important as we develop a plan for treatment. It is not an expectation that you tell me everything in the first appointment. Ongoing sessions build on that foundation and focus on the work we identify together.
Why private pay
What paying directly makes possible
Paying privately allows treatment decisions to remain primarily between you and me, without an insurance company determining whether sessions meet its requirements for coverage.
More privacy from insurance. If you choose not to use insurance benefits, information about your treatment is not submitted to an insurance company for reimbursement.
No insurance authorization or session limits. The length and frequency of treatment are based on your needs, goals, progress, and our ongoing conversations rather than the number of sessions an insurance plan authorizes.
No treatment plan submitted for insurance approval. We can make treatment decisions based on what is clinically useful rather than what an insurer requires for reimbursement.
You will still have a clinical record as part of receiving therapy. Private pay simply means that information is not being submitted to an insurance company unless you choose to use out-of-network benefits.
If you have insurance
Using out-of-network benefits
Some insurance plans reimburse a portion of the cost of seeing an out-of-network therapist. If you have eligible out-of-network benefits and choose to use them, Thrizer can help simplify the reimbursement process. Using out-of-network benefits is optional. You may also use Thrizer for self-pay without submitting a claim to insurance.
One thing worth knowing before you choose: using out-of-network benefits requires information about your care to be submitted to your insurance company for reimbursement, including information needed to process the claim. This generally includes a diagnosis.
If limiting what is shared with your insurance company is important to you, you may prefer to pay privately without using out-of-network benefits.
Check your benefits
You can check your own out-of-network benefits below and see an estimate before contacting me. This gives an estimate only — your insurance company determines the final amount.
Your rights
Good Faith Estimate
If you do not have insurance or are not using insurance to pay for therapy, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the expected cost of your care.
You may request a Good Faith Estimate before scheduling services. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you may be eligible to dispute the bill through the federal patient-provider dispute resolution process.
To request a Good Faith Estimate, contact Allium Mental Health Services at 909-303-6885.
